Hi, my name is Tony Bradbury. I’ve always thought that karate looked like a fantastic sport, combining excellent self defence skills with an exercise regime that would increase my fitness. I found a club and enrolled with my 6 year old daughter, in the hope that we would spend some quality time together, and also that she would learn how to protect herself if, God forbid, the need should ever arise. From the start we both enjoyed the lessons and could see the health benefits even though it wasn’t always easy. That was just over 9 years ago and I can honestly say I’ve never looked back.
As with most things in life, lots of hard work and dedication started to pay dividends as I worked through the ranks to get the greatest reward of the black belt. In reaching what I thought was my ultimate goal I was lucky enough to find some very good friends who made me realise that reaching the black belt was just the beginning!
I had always enjoyed the teaching side of my karate education and I realised that setting up a karate club was in my future. Little did I know that my friends at the dojo had the same idea and, over a beer and a pizza, Tenei-na Karate Club was born, with the hope of bringing the traditional side of karate back to the forefront.
With three instructors I hope this makes for a very exciting club. I believe the experience of the instructors is excellent, and we are all very approachable and friendly. All of us have been in the same situation as you – new to the sport, nervous, unsure, perhaps struggling with routines and combinations – but we are all more than willing to help you learn at your own pace.
I hope to train with you in the dojo soon!
